The MKT had a single generation, shown as a concept at the 2008 Detroit show with a split vertically slatted grille first seen on the 2007 MKR concept and the Lincoln star used as fender side vents. It entered production at the Oakville Assembly plant in July 2009 for the 2010 model year. It used a Duratec 3.7 liter V6 or the twin turbo 3.5 liter EcoBoost, and a livery variant followed. Its model years run from 2010 to 2019.
