The second generation was the Continental Mark II, a hand built flagship coupe that returned the Continental name for 1956 as a brand of its own. At 10,000 dollars it was the most expensive American car of its time. It shared its 126 inch wheelbase with the Lincoln Capri and Premiere, with a Lincoln Y-block V8, no tailfins and a spare tire integrated into the decklid. Only 2,996 were built, and Ford lost nearly 1,000 dollars on each. Each model year has its own page.
