Lincoln Continental (eighth generation)

Automobiles

The eighth generation Continental was the first front wheel drive Lincoln and the first since 1948 marketed without a V8, sharing its unibody chassis with the Taurus and Sable on a wheelbase three inches longer. It went on sale in December 1987 and by interior volume was the largest front drive car of 1988. It was powered by the 3.8 liter Essex V6 and came with adaptive air ride suspension. Annual sales doubled over the previous generation. Each model year has its own page.
