The third generation LS 430, the UCF30, debuted at the Detroit show in January 2000 as a 2001 model with a new body design, with sales beginning in October 2000 in the United States. It used a lidar sensor and, unlike the earlier laser cruise control, could apply the brakes. The car was facelifted at the Frankfurt show in 2003 with a six speed automatic, LED tail lights and new wheels, and it was the last Lexus flagship built in a single body style, produced until July 2006.
