From 1957 the Imperial had its own platform, wider than other Chrysler Corporation cars, with Exner's Forward Look styling, torsion bar front suspension and curved side glass, and it kept a separate body on frame construction through 1966 while the rest of Chrysler went to unit bodies. Trim levels were Imperial, Crown and LeBaron. The wild finned designs of the late fifties gave way in 1964 to Elwood Engel's clean slab sided design. Its model years run from 1957 to 1966.
