The Merkur XR4Ti was a performance oriented three door hatchback sold in North America for the 1985 to 1989 model years. It was a version of the European Ford Sierra XR4i adapted to United States regulations, championed by Ford vice president Bob Lutz, and sold through Lincoln-Mercury dealers as the first Merkur. The T in its name stood for the turbocharged engine. Ford withdrew it early in 1989. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in one generation: the single generation (1985 to 1989).
