The 700 was a small rear engined BMW built from 1959 to 1965 in coupe and saloon forms, the company's first car with a monocoque structure. It sold more than 188,000 at a time when BMW was close to financial ruin, and its design began with sketches by Giovanni Michelotti on a stretched 600 chassis, commissioned by Austrian importer Wolfgang Denzel. Variants included the 700 Sport, later the 700 CS, the Luxus and the 700 LS Coupe. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in one generation: the 700 (1959 to 1965).
