The 700 Sport was renamed the 700 CS in 1963, and in February of that year the size of the inlet valves in the base engine was increased. Illin Industries had earlier tried to start a business assembling 700s in Israel, which resulted in four being assembled there in April 1963. The 700 was by then in its fifth year of production, at a time when BMW was recovering. The cars of 1963 included the renamed 700 CS alongside the Luxus.
