For 2022 a third generation of the Tourneo Connect was released, based on the Volkswagen Caddy, and assembled by Volkswagen in Poland. The second generation continued to be sold in North America in 2022, where the 2.5 litre engine got lower highway fuel economy ratings than before. The Transit Connect was Ford's compact panel van, developed by Ford of Europe as a dedicated commercial vehicle. It sat between the Transit Courier and the Transit Custom in the Ford Transit range.
