The Probe was completely redesigned for 1993 by the combined Ford and Mazda design teams, again sharing its structure with the Mazda MX-6 and 626. It was about 60 percent Mazda and 40 percent Ford, extended and widened by two inches. Motor Trend named the Probe GT its Car of the Year for 1993, and Car and Driver listed it among its Ten Best. A new SE appearance package was available on the base model for 1993 and 1994.
