Ford Explorer (second generation, UN105 and UN150)

Automobiles

The second generation Explorer for 1995 had an evolutionary exterior redesign, with front bodywork distinct from the Ranger, rear wheel drive as standard, part time four wheel drive as an option and all wheel drive newly introduced. A 4.9 liter V8 was added to compete with the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and dual airbags made it the first American brand SUV to have them. The Mercury Mountaineer joined in 1997 and the Sport Trac pickup in 2001. Each model year has its own page.
