Dodge Dart (third generation)

Automobiles

For 1963 Dodge dropped the Lancer name in favor of Dart for its newly designed senior compact, whose wheelbase had grown to 111 inches from the Lancer's 106.5. It rode on the A body suspension of the Plymouth Valiant. The Dart was an instant success, with 1963 sales up sharply on the Lancer, and it stayed popular to the end of its run in 1976 against the Ford Falcon and Chevrolet Nova. Slant six engines were joined by 273 V8 options with a performance version in 1965. Its model years run from 1963 to 1966.
