The Firedome moved upmarket again when the 1957 DeSotos arrived with the new entry level, Dodge based Firesweep beneath it, and a new air conditioner was offered. By 1958 power topped 300 horsepower with the larger V8 option, but sales fell sharply as the economy weakened and build problems with the 1957 cars hurt the brand. Firedome production ended with the 1959 model year. Its model years run from 1957 to 1959.
