The second generation Monte Carlo moved to the standard A body intermediate chassis and became a pillared Colonnade coupe with rear side opera windows and frameless door glass. It was Motor Trend's Car of the Year for 1973, set a new Chevrolet sales record that year and another in 1974 of over 300,000, and ended with the 1977 car before the downsized 1978 model. Its model years run from 1973 to 1977.
