The 1991 model year was the first full year for the Acura NSX in North America, after Acura dealers began selling it in November 1990. It was a coupe with a transversely mounted all-aluminium 3.0 litre VTEC V6 and a five-speed manual transmission, and its body used an all-aluminium semi-monocoque, a first for a general production car. Honda had set the Ferrari 328 and 348 as its performance targets.
