Willys Eight

Automobiles

The Willys Eight was an American passenger car made by Willys-Overland of Toledo, Ohio, and introduced in 1931. It was derived from the Willys Six and used an inline eight-cylinder engine of 80 horsepower (65 kW) supplied by Continental, on a wheelbase of 3,048 mm, at prices from 995 to 1,395 US dollars. The 1931 cars came as a Victoria coupe and a sedan in standard and de luxe trim (Series 8-80D and 8-80). For 1932 the Series 8-88 took the name Silver Streak, lengthened the wheelbase to 3,073 mm, cut prices to 730 to 1,030 dollars and offered roadsters, coupes and sedans, and the 1933 Series 8-88A kept the mechanics under new streamlined bodies. The Eight was sold until 1933, the year the company went bankrupt yet kept building cars, and was then dropped, with the Willys-Knight and the Six, for the smaller four-cylinder Willys 77.
