The Toyota Aristo is the Japanese market equivalent of the first two generations of the Lexus GS, an executive sedan that Toyota sold in Japan from 1991 until the Lexus marque made its Japanese debut in 2005. The name aristo is Greek for the best. The first generation first appeared in Aristo form in Japan in October 1991, from an Italdesign Giugiaro design, and the Lexus GS followed outside Japan in February 1993. The Aristo was the last production car to use the twin turbocharged 2JZ-GTE motor, which it kept three years after the Supra ended. Generations with their own pages on this site: the first generation, S140 (1991 to 1996); the second generation, S160 (1997 to 2004).
