Range Rover (second generation, P38A)

Automobiles

The second-generation Range Rover, known as the P38A after the office block that housed its development team, went on sale on 28 September 1994, exactly 24 years after the original, and was built to 2001. It carried an updated Rover V8 in 4.0 and 4.6-litre forms and offered a 2.5-litre BMW six-cylinder turbodiesel, with electronic air suspension, anti-lock brakes and more equipment, and sat above the Discovery. It was developed under British Aerospace but launched as BMW took over Rover Group. No later Range Rover offered a manual gearbox or the old-style transfer box.
