The 1960 Fury was the first with unibody construction, the first with Chrysler's ram induction system and the first with the new slant six engine, alongside the 318, 361 and 383 V8s. Its styling was set in 1957 at the height of the tailfin era and had gone out of fashion, so Plymouth barely kept its 1959 volume while Chevrolet and Ford grew. Tailfins were removed for 1961, and the Fury remained Plymouth's leading sales model through the early 1960s. Its model years run from 1960 to 1961.
