The 1960 Fury was the first year for unibody construction, for Chrysler's ram induction system and for the new slant six engine, a 225 cubic inch six with 145 horsepower. The 318, 361 and 383 V8s were also offered. The styling had been worked out in 1957 at the height of the tailfin era and was out of fashion, so Plymouth barely held its 1959 volume while Chevrolet and Ford sales rose. Chevrolet and Ford sales rose that year, so the Fury's flat sales were a disappointment for Plymouth.
