The Astra G was launched in Europe in the spring of 1998, available as a three or five door hatchback, a four door saloon, a five door estate known as a Caravan, and two special versions from 2000, the Astra Coupe and the Astra Cabrio, both designed and built by Bertone. Its chassis was tuned by Lotus and formed the base of the seven seat Opel Zafira. Its model years run from 1998 to 2004. The Astra G also formed the base for the Opel Zafira.
