The FTO is a front engine, front wheel drive sport compact car that Mitsubishi produced between 1994 and 2000. It was planned only for Japan, but its popularity as a grey market import led to limited distribution through official dealers in several countries at the tail end of production. It won the Car of the Year Japan award for 1994 to 1995. FTO stands for Fresh Touring Origination, and recalls the Galant FTO coupe of 1971.
