1996 Mitsubishi FTO

Automobiles

Prior to the introduction of the facelift models, a Mivec GP model was introduced in 1996, together with a later semi race spec Nakaya Tune dealer package. The GP Special, with a five speed manual or four speed automatic, was also promoted by dealerships as a GP version R introduction. Upon its debut it won the Car of the Year Japan award for 1994 to 1995. FTO stands for Fresh Touring Origination, and the name recalls the Galant FTO coupe of 1971, one of the company's first sports cars.
