The third generation was fully changed on 19 January 1999 to meet the new kei rules, with a larger body and a semi cab over style that placed the front wheels ahead of the cabin, and a wagon was added in December 1999. It had a 50 PS SOHC engine or a 60 PS turbo, and from September 2001 an all aluminium DOHC engine. The car was sold in Japan by Mazda as a kei commercial vehicle. Its model years run from 1999 to 2004.
