The first Scrum, which went on sale in June 1989, was the successor of the Porter Cab and an OEM version of the Suzuki Every and Carry, with a 550 cc engine that changed to a 660 cc three cylinder in March 1990, when the car formally moved to the Autozam brand. It came as a van and a truck, and some one box grades had a glass roof. The car was sold in Japan by Mazda as a kei commercial vehicle. Its model years run from 1989 to 1990.
