The RX-8 was Mazda's rotary engined sports car, built from 2003 to 2012 as the direct successor to the RX-7. First shown in 2001 at the Detroit show, it used a two rotor Renesis Wankel engine of 189 to 237 horsepower, a front mid engine, rear wheel drive layout and small rear freestyle doors, and 192,094 were built at the Ujina plant in Hiroshima before it was dropped without a successor. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in one generation: the single generation (2003 to 2012).
