The second generation Capella, the CB, was a rear wheel drive car available between October 1977 and 1982 in sedan and coupe forms, and sold in export markets as the 626 apart from the United Kingdom, where it was the Mazda Montrose. Most markets received it from 1979. Japanese engines were 1.6, 1.8 and later 2.0 liters. A facelift in 1980 brought flush headlamps and a new grille, and an American facelift followed for the 1981 model year. Its model years run from 1978 to 1981.
