The fourth generation Familia, the FA4, was a rear wheel drive car introduced in 1977, and in Europe all Familias sold after 1977 were called 323. In North America the new GLC, Great Little Car, overlapped with the old Mizer in 1977 and ran through 1980, and a 1.6 liter engine arrived in early 1979. A facelift in 1978 brought a 1.4 liter engine from July, and well equipped versions were sold as the 323 GLC in South Africa. Its model years run from 1977 to 1979.
