Honda released the third-generation Prelude in Japan on 9 April 1987, and elsewhere later that year, where in North America it was a 1988 model. Its evolutionary styling shared design themes with the later Honda NSX, with a 0.34 drag coefficient and, as its signature feature, an option for mechanical four wheel steering, the first such system on a mass production passenger car anywhere. It was powered exclusively by variants of the Honda B20A engine, and a facelift was revealed in Japan on 21 November 1989. Each model year of this generation has its own page.
