1988 Honda Prelude

Automobiles

The 1988 Honda Prelude was the first model year of the third generation in North America, where it was a 1988 model released later in 1987. A mechanical four wheel steering system, the first in a mass production passenger car, was an option, and it was a runaway hit at home, with 80 percent of buyers choosing it in year one where Honda had expected 30 percent. A 1987 Road & Track test found the 1988 Prelude 2.0Si 4WS beating all rivals of that year in a slalom at 65.5 mph, and in Europe it placed third in the 1988 European Car of the Year contest.
