Honda built the CR-X, first launched in Japan as the Honda Ballade Sports CR-X, as a sport compact car from 1983 to 1991, with nearly 400,000 produced. The first generation was marketed in some regions outside Japan as the Honda Civic CRX, and the most widely accepted meaning of the initialism is Civic Renaissance Experimental. In North America it was marketed as an economy sport two seat vehicle while Japanese and European cars had a 2+2 seating arrangement. It was replaced in 1992 by the CR-X del Sol, which has its own model page, and in 2010 Honda released the CR-Z as its spiritual successor. This site lists a page for every model year in the span covered here, each focused on what changed in that year, grouped into 2 generations: the first generation (1984 to 1987 model years); the second generation (1988 to 1991 model years). Each year page links to its generation, to this model page, to the previous model year and to Honda.
