Honda introduced the first-generation City in November 1981, with chassis AA for the sedans and VF for the vans, and FA for the wider Cabriolets and Turbo II, using the innovative Tallboy design, whose unusual height let four adults ride comfortably in a car shorter than 3.4 m. It was produced as a 3 door hatchback in a variety of trim levels, along with the Motocompo, a special 50 cc foldaway scooter that fit in its luggage area, and the City Turbo, Turbo II, Cabriolet and van versions followed. Exports went to Europe as the Honda Jazz, to Australia as a two seater van and to New Zealand, where it was locally assembled. Production ended in late 1986. Each model year has its own page.
