Honda launched the City Turbo in September 1982, with a turbocharged version of the 1231 cc ER engine. Europe took most City exports, where the car became the Honda Jazz because Opel held the City name as a trademark; Australia received a two seater van version to get around its limits on importing passenger vehicles then, and New Zealand assembled the car locally.
