The S197 Mustang was a new car with a retro design inspired by the classic Mustangs, built at the Flat Rock plant in Michigan on a platform used by no other Ford. It was previewed by concept cars at the 2003 Detroit show, went into production in September 2004 as a 2005 model, and was facelifted in 2009 for the 2010 model year with revised styling and a calmer aerodynamic shape. It kept a solid rear axle, which critics disliked. Each model year has its own page.
