The 2014 model year was the last of the S197 Mustang, a design sold for ten model years starting in 2005. Ford released a single special edition 2014 GT coupe, with VIN 0001, to mark the 60th anniversary of the US Air Force Thunderbirds. The sixth generation was shown to the world in December 2013 and in public in January 2014, so the 2014 car was the last of the old line. The Flat Rock assembly plant in Michigan built it.
