The GPA had a single generation, built after the American army set up a project in 1941 for a quarter ton amphibian, with a hull shape drawn by yacht designer Roderick Stephens in the style of his DUKW. Ford's entry used a sturdy chassis and an internal frame with a four cylinder engine of about 60 horsepower. Its model years run from 1942 to 1943. The GPA was an amphibious jeep built for the Allied forces, and it was called the Seep by those who used it.
