The first Galaxie was added during the 1959 model year as the new top trim level of the Ford range, above the Fairlane 500, in sedan and hardtop forms, with the Sunliner and Skyliner convertibles moved up to it. The Skyliner had a retractable hardtop that folded into the trunk. Styled with plenty of chrome and optional two tone paint, it was tamer than its Chevrolet and Plymouth rivals, and the 352 cubic inch V8 of 300 horsepower continued. Each model year has its own page.
