The Falcon XF sedan and wagon sold between October 1984 and March 1988, with the ute and van running through to March 1993. After the cancellation of the Capricorn program in 1981, the XF Falcon was conceived as an interim facelift for the XE until the all new fifth generation Falcon was ready. New front end styling gave a softer, more rounded appearance. It was the first model since the XP not to offer a V8 engine, and remains Ford Australia's best selling Falcon with 278,101 built. Its model years run from 1984 to 1987.
