The third Coronet of 1955 dropped to the lower end of the Dodge lineup, as the Wayfarer and Meadowbrook names were retired and the Custom Royal was added above the Royal. The bodies were restyled with help from the newly hired Virgil Exner, lower, wider and longer, and two V8 engines were offered, a 270 with semi-hemi heads and a 315 Hemi. The Coronet came in all body styles except the convertible. The 1956 cars were the last of this body style, with a new high performance D-500. Its model years run from 1955 to 1956.
