For 1985 Chevrolet revived the Nova nameplate for its NUMMI joint venture with Toyota, as a subcompact built at Fremont, California, on the S platform shared with the fifth generation front wheel drive Toyota Corolla, but with the body of the Toyota Sprinter. It sat between the Chevette and the Cavalier. The Nova was replaced by the Geo Prizm for 1989. Its model years run from 1985 to 1988, after which it became the Geo Prizm.
