For 1985 the Nova made its return as the first front wheel drive subcompact to wear the name, introduced in the second quarter of 1984 as the largest of the imported Chevrolet line though it was produced in California. It shared its chassis with the fifth generation Toyota Corolla and was styled with the body of the Toyota Sprinter. A carbureted 1.6 liter four of 74 horsepower was the sole engine, and the four door sedan listed for 7,435 dollars.
