The eighth generation Malibu moved to the GM Epsilon II platform and debuted in Asia in late 2011, followed by North America in 2012, and was unveiled as a show car in Shanghai and on Facebook on April 18, 2011. It was sold in Korea first, in Australia as the Holden Malibu from 2013 and in the Philippines from late 2013. In North America it continued in 2016 as the Malibu Limited. Its model years run from 2013 to 2015, with the Limited in 2016.
