The second generation Cruze began sales in North America in early 2016, delayed a year by engineering changes, with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability on the 2016 car and a five door hatchback unveiled in January 2016 at the North American International Auto Show, on sale in late 2016 as a 2017 model. A diesel arrived in 2017, a facelift for 2019, and production ended in South Korea in 2018, the United States and Mexico in 2019, China in 2020 and Argentina in 2023. Its model years run from 2016 to 2023.
