The first generation Cruze, internally designated J300, was released in 2008 for the South Korean market as the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere, before its international name was adopted in 2011. General Motors phased out the Cobalt and Pontiac G5 in 2010 just before building of the Chevrolet Cruze commenced in North America. A hatchback was unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and sold in Europe from mid 2011, and a station wagon was unveiled in February 2012. Its model years run from 2008 to 2015.
