The fourth generation Cavalier was introduced at the 2016 Chengdu Auto Show on September 2, 2016 for the Chinese market, as a compact sedan, and from 2018 it went on sale in Mexico, replacing the Chevrolet Sonic. The Mexican car was updated for 2020, and the car was discontinued in the Chinese domestic market in 2019 after being replaced by the Chevrolet Monza, though it continued to be built for export. Its model years run from 2016 to 2021.
