Beginning with the 2026 model year the Forester models for the United States market are produced in the United States at Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette, Indiana. A hybrid version was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show on 1 April 2026, and is scheduled to go on sale in late 2026 for the 2027 model year. The Forester was first introduced as the Streega concept at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show. The Forester has been awarded Motor Trend's SUV of the Year for 2009 and 2014.
