The fifth generation Pajero was first teased on 29 May 2026 and unveiled on 2 September 2026, marking the return of the nameplate after a five year hiatus. It uses a body on frame construction based on the sixth generation Triton and L200, unlike the monocoque third and fourth generations, and features the Super-Select 4WD system. Sales in Japan are to begin on 17 December 2026, and the first generation was also named a Historic Car in 2023.
