The Pajero was globally discontinued in 2021, after a 40 year run during which more than 3.3 million units were sold. Production for international markets where demand remained high, such as Australia, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America, continued for some time. The bankruptcy of Changfeng Motors in July 2021 ended the Chinese Pajero derived Q6. The name lived on with the smaller Pajero Sport. Over the 40 year run to 2021 more than 3.3 million Pajeros were sold.
