Unlike its sibling the Pajero Sport, the Pajero did not feature any autonomous driving aids such as autonomous emergency braking or lane keeping assist, which were a compulsory requirement for the 2020 onward ANCAP standards. The fourth generation was in its fifteenth year and sold in markets such as Australia, where the lack of the aids ended its sales, and the Middle East. The Pajero Sport, which shared its name, was built on the Triton platform and was smaller in size.
