The Grand Lancer was in its fifth year in 2021, built by the Taiwanese China Motor Corporation after Mitsubishi had ended production of the Lancer elsewhere in 2017. It had the Mitsubishi Dynamic Shield grille and redesigned creases over the side body panels, with the platform carried over from the earlier Lancer, and it was sold only in Taiwan as the last survivor of a nameplate that had been introduced in 1973. It was built on the platform of the earlier Lancer as an extensive facelift.
